I didn't pick these films for the purpose, but it occurred to me after watching that you can feel the stamp of the times in each one. The recent ones do not shy away from war, torture or climate change, but neither are they overwhelmed by them. It Was Just An Accident, in particular, is so funny, and so vital, about such horror. Still, it was nice to get away to the 1990s for a while in The Friends which has this completely gorgeous soundtrack:
